I rather liked the Blue Bird Baxter Market, which originally started late last year… It had a good feel, and though not very busy, I thought it had potential. Then, in December it was summarily cancelled (with very last-minute notice to the poor traders, I believe), with the intention of re-starting when UCT began the new academic year.
Well, it is relaunching, it seems, but the organisers are no longer the Blue Bird Garage Market folks, which I think is a pity… I don’t know much about the new organiser, and the website doesn’t say very much at all, but I’m nonetheless looking forward to seeing how the market does.
The market will now be held on Sundays (previously Saturdays) from 10.30am to 5pm in the Baxter garden. The format looks pretty similar, with stallholders providing “delicious healthy foods, home-made products and art, fresh produce, vintage and other unique items”.
When: Sundays 10.30am-5pm
Where: Baxter Theatre garden, Rondebosch Main Road.
Cost: Free entry.
