The Made in the Cape Market is back this weekend at Cavendish Square, from today through to Sunday. This is one of the best-curated craft and designer markets I’ve been to, and on the many occasions that I have visited the market, I have always found something beautiful or fun (or both) and have been singularly impressed by the quality of product.
This lovely showcase of local talent was first launched in August last year, and has since been on more or less once a month (this does vary).
Market organiser Dale de Ridder has always been careful to bring in new exhibitors to keep things fresh, whilst keeping a good balance of established popular favourites. These are some of the highlights of this month’s market:
Yilasophia ceramics – a wonderful philosophy of combining art and recycling (see the pictures above of her amazing ceramic lamps and diffusers).
Happy Thought music boxes are including new jewellery boxes into their range.
We are delighted to have Ingrained Woodcraft return after being away on Honeymoon. Brendan’s craftsmanship is always extremely popular.
Boniface Chikwenhere from Driftwood Creations is a beautiful person creating nature inspired sculpture. Each piece is imbued with Bonis tranquil spirit.
Bokke and Blomme always delight with their uniquely South African wood cut words and expressions – homes of ex pats across the globe are adorned with ‘Lekker’ and ‘Eish’.
Spirit Jewellery will be exhibiting for the first time. Their delicate adornments in sterling silver are perfect for all occasions.
And their popular regulars will be there too:
- Recycabilia décor and frames
- Simply Beautiful Jewellery
- Milk & Honey natural skin care
- Succulent Oasis with handmade pots
- Blossom Creations
- The Little Fire Company
It’s a great market for finding unique gifts and beautiful things for your home – I can highly recommend the experience!
