Ah, I truly picked the right city to live in. Fresh produce markets keep popping up all over the place, and the latest one to launch looks set to be a goodie…
Organisers of the fabulous Stellenbosch Fresh Goods Market are branching out and starting a new market at the Willowbridge Lifestyle Centre in the Northern Suburbs.
Called the Willowbridge Slow Market, the new market is billed as a”Slow Food and life style market selling products which are grown, raised, caught, preserved or transformed by the producers themselves”.
And, like at the Stellenbosch version, organisers are promising “high-quality specialty producers, food artisans, local and regional farmers, natural and organic merchants, seasonal goods, responsible and sustainable enterprises and fine-food purveyors.”
Sounds good to me! And though I’m not a big fan of shopping malls, I’ll certainly be visiting this new market some time soon, to see how it compares (and to stock up on gourmet goodies, of course!)
The Willowbridge Slow Market will launch this Saturday (6 December) at 9am (go early for champagne and strawberries) and will thereafter be held every Saturday from 9am to 3pm. For more information visit slowmarket.co.za. (how to get there)
