Weekend again, and as usual there’s plenty to do, and lots to look forward to. Here’s hoping the blustery sou’easter gives us all a little breather and lets us visit the beaches without being overly sandblasted!

Here are my top picks from the Mother City Living events calendar for the weekend (and further) ahead.

Constantia Waldorf MarketConstantia Waldorf Organic and Biodynamic Market

Friday 23 Jan. 11am-3pm. Constantia Waldorf School, Spanschemat Road, Constantia

This is one of my favourite sources of fresh, crunchy organic (and biodynamic) produce.

They sell a lot of Camphill products, including raw unpasteurised milk and yoghurts and the best darned organic eggs in the city (R10 a half-dozen). Plus, there’s quite a variety of fresh produce from various farms and gardens including next-door Soil For Life.

They’ve been closed through the school holidays, but today they open again for the first time in 2009!

farmhouserocksCape Farmhouse Rocks.

Saturday 24 Jan. Junction of the M65 & M66 Bottom of Redhill Road, 3km past Scarborough. From 1pm.

The weather-protected Cape Farmhouse near Scarborough hosts regular weekend music concerts. It’s a lovely venue, an this Saturday Wendy Oldfield will be performing. Gates open: 1pm. Concert start time: 3pm. Cost: R50 Adults / R40 Students. Cash bar and food available, a la carte until 4pm. For more info, phone 021 780 1246.

Kirstenbosch Craft MarketKirstenbosch Craft Market.

Sunday 25 Jan. 9am – 3pm. Stone Cottages, corner of Kirstenbosch/Rhodes Drives.

I love this market. It’s so colourful, and the crafts so varied… The quality is great, and the setting under the trees is is awesome. Look out for the stand that sells healthy pitas covered in doubly healthy freshly grown sprouts and home-made humus. And, be sure to pick up some pickles from Marinella’s Organic Pickles and Preserves – they’re delicious!

Those are just my top picks, though, so check out the events calendar for more upcoming events.
