I’ve never been that big a fan of Kauai. Their food is certainly very healthy, there’s no doubting that, but I’ve yet to have a meal there that tastes of anything at all.
Sterile food. Food that has not been prepared with any care. That’s how it tastes to me. It’s unfortunate, because in a world full of nasty fast food they really are on to a good thing.
That said, a friend of mine really does like Kauai meals and I join her at the Gardens Kauai from time to time, generally ordering a smoothie instead of food (because admittedly I really do like the smoothies).
But the last few times we’ve been there for a sit-down meal the well-meaning but not-terribly-efficient staff have not once managed to get our order right.
The first time it was the wrong smoothie (not sure how ‘immune booster’ sounds at all like ‘c-monster’), the next it took far too long to arrive. The third time they brought the wrong meal altogether and then took an age to bring the replacement.
And every single time they forget the cutlery.
We weren’t in a hurry, so it wasn’t a big deal, but there were some rather irate folks behind us, and across the way, who had to get back to work and were rather vocal about their discontent.
It’s far faster to order at the counter, pay there, and then find yourself a table to plunder your goodies. Guess that’s what we’ll be doing next time around.
