I’ve just found out that Kloovenburg (out in the Riebeek Valley), an estate known primarily for its olives and wines, will be hosting a new farmers’ market, starting this coming Saturday (13 December):
The Kloovenburg Market Day will be a showcase of the finest fresh produce from the Valley and surrounds and will allow locals and visitors to the Riebeek Valley the rare opportunity to taste, sample and buy wonderful products created and produced locally — in one convenient location.
The Kloovenburg Market Day will be quarterly market focusing on the best seasonal produce available in the Riebeek Valley, which means that we can expect an autumn, winter, spring and summer market in 2009.
Along with the fabulous Kloovenburg range of wine and olive products there will also be several other exhibitors offering: Local cheeses, fresh free range eggs and poultry, meats, breads, Christmas cakes, fruits and vegetables, cured meats, jams and preserves. (iafrica.com)
Perhaps another place to get some mall-free Christmas shopping done?
I don’t know about you, but a day out in the picturesque Riebeek Valley, sampling the best of local fare and gleefully taking some home with me, sounds like precisely my cup of tea!
The first Kloovenburg Market Day will take place this Saturday (13 December ’08) from 9am to 5pm at Kloovenburg Wine & Olive Estate. For more info, contact the estate on +27 22 448 1635 or visit www.kloovenburg.com
