Cape Town’s legendary luxury hotel is providing locals with the perfect excuse to brave the cold snap and head out this snugly season. The hotel’s annual Wine and Dine Dinner Series launches at the end of May and runs until the end of October.
Each of the six events will see classic cuisine paired with wines from some of South Africa’s best-loved estates – at the very palatable price of ZAR350 per person. Guests are encouraged to glam up and don a slinky dress or a vintage suit, to enter an era of bygone style and etiquette – synonymous with Mount Nelson Hotel’s rich heritage.
Award-winning Executive Chef Rudi Liebenberg has designed a set multi-course menu for each event which is inspired by the hotel’s culinary tradition, and showcases his culinary style. Rudi will personally introduce each dish and share his sources of inspiration throughout the evening.
Wines from each featured estate are specially selected and paired to enhance every course, and the estate’s proprietor or winemaker adds to the experience with vineyard and cellar stories.
Spot prize giveaways will be announced throughout the evening; the estate’s wines will be available to purchase on site at cellar door prices, and a portion of proceeds from each event will be donated to the Hotels Housing Trust charity organisation (www.hotelshousingtrust.com).
