But, if I were staying in town, here are some of the things I might have been doing instead!
Saturday 11 July 9am to 2.30pm. South Palms (next to Builders Warehouse in Tokai Main Rd)
I’m excited about the launch of this market, which certainly sounds like precisely my cup of tea, but I’m just going to have to wait until I get back from my weekend away!
Here’s what to expect: “The indoor food market will host top quality traders selling a range of locally produced and artisan food products: a butcher selling free range meat, a fishmonger, organic and non organic fruit and veggies as well as a wine merchant, baker, dairy and many other quality products.”
Cape Town NU METRO V&A from 02–19 July 2009. www.encounters.co.za
It’s the last couple of days of this great doccie festival – South Africa’s only film festival devoted exclusively to documentaries. I’m sorry I haven’t seen any – I’ve just been so busy – but I hope to catch some on the other side of the weekend.
Kirstenbosch Winter Wonders Festival (until 19 July)
A series of special events for kids and adults (and everyone in between). Kids under 18 get free entrance to the gardens for the duration of the winter school holidays.
For further information on these events or for the Kirstenbosch activities programme, please visit Kirstenbosch’s events page on www.sanbi.org or call the Kirstenbosch Info Desk on 021 799 8783.
Well, I’m outta here. I hope y’all have fabulous weekends!
