I can’t say that I’d know my Caol Ila from my Tallisker, let alone how long they might have been lying in wait before pouncing upon my ignorant tastebuds, but a short stint in an aromatic distillery in Scotland last year certainly tickled my fancy, and I’m keen to find out what the upcoming FNB Whisky Live Festival can teach me about such intricacies.
The FNB Whisky Live Festival takes place in Cape Town (5-7 November) and Johannesburg (12-14 November). Visitors can sample a variety of whiskies and whisky cocktails in the Tasting Hall, find out how to pair food with whisky (yes, it can be done!) in the Pyotts’ Sensory Zone, or go the whole hog by attending one of the one-hour long crash course Whisky Workshops.
These tickets are for the opening VIP night of the festival on 5 November, and include entry into the Tasting Hall, a copy of the 2008 edition of the Whisky Handbook, a tasting glass as well as 12 whisky tasting coupons for the evening, a bottle of Valpre water and a R15.00 discount redeemable at any Picardi Rebel outlet on any purchase of Malt Whisky.
All you have to do to qualify for entry is to answer a few whisky-related questions (not too hard, I promise):
- Approximately how many people attend the FNB Whisky Live Festival each year?
- Roughly what percentage of visitors last year were of the ‘fairer sex’? (oh… okay, here’s a hint)
- Where will the Cape Town FNB Whisky Live Festival be held this year?
.**this competition is now closed**
Use my contact form to send me the answers and your details (full name, please), and I’ll enter you into the draw. First three correct entries drawn get the tickets (please include a contact number in case I need to get hold of you directly – I’m the only one who’ll see it, and I will keep it to myself, I promise!).
