Kirstenbosch will once again be holding its popular “Winter Wonders” festival with a fun-filled programme of events on at the Garden during the winter school holidays (27 June until 19 July). Children under 18 years will have free entrance for the duration of the school holidays.

Here’s what’s on the go during the festival:

  • Silvertree Restaurant has organised lots of childrens’ entertainment, including puppet shows, face painting, magicians and clowns. “The Collaboration”, Silvertree Restaurant winter concert series, is also currently taking place on Sunday nights.
  • Up at the top of the Garden the Kirstenbosch Tea Room offers warm and hearty soups at their annual Soup Festival plus for lovers of classical music, Sunday 12 July sees the start of the Pick ‘n Pay Chamber Music Breakfast Concerts.
  • The Centre for Home Gardening also has a wonderful collection of aloes, as well as colourful Wellington boots for the whole family for sale.
  • Kirstenbosch’s Cape Town Big 6 partners (Table Mountain Cableway, the V&A Waterfront, Cape Point, Robben Island and the Constantia Vineyards) all have children’s specials during the winter school holidays.
